EMDR
I am trained in Polyvagal informed EMDR through Kase & Co and pursuing EMDR Certification.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is one of the top evidence-based modalities for trauma processing and resolution. It utilizes bilateral stimulation to facilitate the reprocessing of distressing memories. Bilateral stimulation is achieved through eye movement, self-tapping, TheraTappers, or bilateral alternating sound.
Polyvagal theory, emphasizes the role of the nervous system in regulating emotional states and responses to stressors. The incorporation of Polyvagal Theory with EMDR allows for a holistic experience in which the client is able to feel empowered as they process uncomfortable or distressing memories and experiences.
As with any trauma modality, EMDR begins with resourcing. We will establish trust, build grounding and regulating practices that you can practice in and out of session.
