Trauma Informed Therapy in Fair Oaks, CA (in-person) & Virtually Across CA
Inclusive and affirming therapy for those healing from trauma and internalized shame.
Have you ever felt like…
Life is overwhelming and your needs and feelings take a backseat to everything and everyone else? If you’ve been told or felt that caring for yourself is selfish or that parts of you are shameful, then it’s no wonder you might feel disconnected from your true self. You may have learned to hide who you are to feel safe or loved, but over time, this can leave you feeling lost and unsure of your identity.
OR
You are stuck in loops of worry, replaying worst-case scenarios, or struggling to trust your feelings? It’s exhausting to second-guess yourself constantly and wonder if your emotions are valid or if you’re overreacting. You may apologize frequently, even when you’ve done nothing wrong, or find yourself repeating relationship patterns that leave you feeling frustrated and misunderstood.
I get it, I’ve been there too.
How I can help…
-
When we begin to understand our needs and how to communicate them to others, we start to build trust and safety within ourselves. Boundaries do not have to mean cutting ties with loved ones. But rather, learning how we want others to love and care for us.
-
Let's change the story that it was our fault, that what happened was normal, or that we were overreacting. Trauma impacts us on a deep level, we cannot simply just "get over it" and move on. The impacts will continue to show up until we are able to tend to them. Our body, nervous system, and brain all adapted to get us through it - these adaptions might look like dissociation, anxiety, depression, hyper-vigilance, etc. As we heal and thank these parts for doing their job, we can also learn how to invite them into safety.
-
For some, religion is a place we were taught to feel shame or that parts of us were not welcome, wanted, or "good." We can heal from wounds with support and start to rebuild our outlook of ourselves and (if it feels right) your spirituality and what role (if any) it plays in your life.

As a queer and bisexual person, I know how important it is to find a therapist where you can walk in, accepted as authentically you!
I help my clients through exploring their identity and sexuality, building self-esteem, decreasing shame, bi-invisibility, sharing identity with your community, and identity related anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I approach therapy from an attachment-based and trauma informed lens, so we’ll talk about what has worked before and what hasn’t to fine tune treatment for you. Below are some of the holistic approaches I offer:
My name is Lyl (she/her) and I am a trauma-trained Licensed Therapist in Fair Oaks, CA. I am also a trauma survivor, parent, spouse, sibling and child of immigrants. My goal is to be the kind of therapist that brings knowledge to human-ness, where the old thought patterns can be met with compassion and understanding. My hope is that my room can be a place where all of you; your quirks, sense of humor (yes even dark humor), colorful language, anime, music references and the heaviness and worries that may be causing feelings of being too much, can come to rest and be seen. In this space, you won't be too much and you will not be a burden.
As an active participant in my own therapy. I know that healing can sometimes be scary, uncomfortable and accompanied by grief. I also want to remind you how choosing you, can be beautiful and empowering as you find a home within yourself.
My hope is that this can be a space you can call your own: somewhere you feel safe bringing your whole, authentic self—without fear of being judged or criticized—and getting back in touch with your inner wisdom and strength.
